Hi everybody and welcome to the food practice. My name is Tatiana. And today we are going to look a little at the fingerings. And the third octave. This was a requested video, I know, I'm not kind of getting to Ali's requested video, systematically I'm kind of getting to them as I think the most important we've really done a video on high notes and how to play high notes more dealing with embouchure and the support.
And so on. So I'm just going to quickly run through all those fingerings for you. Making sure you've got the correct one because that's really significant with those octaves so let's go check it out. So the first fingering we're going to deal with is d, what we call d3. So some bound we avoid this one. We hold for this one.
We leave this one open and those two fingers up there it is. And this is very significant and different to the low octave. The baby finger is down. So there is your D fingering jump down.
Some like that good D, flat D. Flat is the only fingering where we have got every. Single key with obviously the exception to the cities compressed. We are pushing down every single key and actually not pressing up and down, but I, bring them enough, basically every single finger, one some stuff after this one that's one that one that one every finger is engaged, good, II like normal OE. We can finger down, except you lift this finger here there it is so like normally that we lift away the finger, cool I like to relate a lot of these fingerings back to the original fingering. And I'm sure, maybe you don't know by now, but most of you probably do know by now, the flute basically works on the harmonics of the flute.
And the only reason we changed the fingering in this octave. So I could play, but I get very out of tune note quite flat. In this case and it's also like the tone quality is not the same, so they're easily really lifting other fingers and changing the fingerings is to create the best possible sound quality right? So that's, why I think to think logically is like. E, but you looked away that finger same thing with F, natural F, natural it's like F, but you lift away the middle finger. So the thumbs down baby fingers still down you lift away just the middle finger and to F shop. Okay, F to F shop, just best changeover.
Once again, like normal, F sharp edges, finger down everything's down, except you lift away the middle finger, a caution to those who don't know for those. You cannot play the F sharp, top F sharp with your B flat key down. You must slide onto you're beak. This because the B flat key compresses this key over there, as you can see it going down and flip shop, we can't have that whatever side it goes down anyway. But for F sharp, we need it open. So little background a bit if shop good jeez once again, like normal G, except we left away to the sump there. We have it left away the thumb there.
She is still got the baby finger down there. You will see we're going to get to the place where we left the red baby finger, but they are very few notes in this top. Octave that we can enough to wait a baby finger from D onwards until now we have kept that puppy on nice and securely good.
We G g-sharp subside surprise. There is a below again, G sharp, fingering, normal, G sharp, fingering there we have it put the G sharp. We lift away the thumb, and we left away the finger. Okay. So there you get. So the first that basically that's all that we press and our E eh-eh, we start.
Now we're starting to get a little more complex with fingerings a lift away this finger and. Put down that finger so finger star and some, and of course, other print good. If these notes are getting too high for you, you know, if you want to stop already at F, orgy, I, really recommend, you don't learn these notes like all in one go and one heaps slowly, maybe every day. Or if a few days, you take a new note, and you just kind of work it into what feels comfortable soon as you're feeling comfortable that note you take it a step higher. You feel comfortable you.
Take it. A step higher, really I. Think. It's kind of pointless learning you all in one go I'll, give you overwhelm unless you're initially about like a superhuman brain or something on whiskey. Go ahead.
Do it? Okay, a a've got an is you a right. Okay. Let's go be frack. Now B flat to an is, actually quite a nice little transition.
We lift away this finger, and we put down the first cookie. So now please note I, still got four baby fingers on many, many people practice and play B flaps without the baby finger. This is a trick we can use for the. Information at times, but the standard fingering that you will find in all books is with the baby fingers still on so don't, don't practice with off keep it out got B flat again. So stay with your right and B flat. We left the finger and put the patrol key down.
Good. Then B be I. Think B is kind of the most similar to a chart, actually, I think it's like F sharp, except you control key equipped instead of your on a trochee instead of the ski.
And now first time Tara, baby, finger, cut off the first time. That we have got the baby finger gone. Good closed experiment, you know, see what happens if you don't with a bit, if you put the very thing download, you know, see what happens also, good all right? See, it's like F, put down lift key and leave some away. Now, if you've got a beef look like me, you usually have this little key over there, it's cool to give mocha, not just compressors to see the lost the last of the holy his job. It is better for the sound to have that guy compressed it's, a. Practice thing you just got to kind of practice into your scales as you always go up, you decide to join it so be now I really recommend unless you feel completely comfortable with all the other notes do not go to see yet, because you really you're just going to be kind of practicing tense unhappy I'm happy to.
But unhealthy tense habit for you always kind of ass going to the note. So really want to feel comfortable in this register. See you like F, put down the G sharp key and left away. The. Some so and then I'm going to put my gym Megiddo, good I'm going to recommend always go to the absolute highest note, you can play and then push it just one note higher once that becomes comfortable you push that one note higher always just pushing it up and up and up cool guys that was like a really super quick rundown of the fingering. My suggestion is stopped the video at the finger you comfortable with practice it for a little while until it's as comfortable to come back to the video and continue. Don't try to do this all-in-one go it's, a lot of information.
So yeah, and then I can only caution, you can't force you. So you know, you're going to do it. You don't know, but that would be my recommendation how to practice everybody see you soon and enjoy your week.
